Believe – Speak

There is no doubt that God loves us. (John 3:16)

As a parent there is nothing I would withhold from my child – no wisdom, no experience, no help, no hope…no joy – nothing that I possessed which could be used to make their life better.

I would likely share when I should withhold and withhold when I should share.

However, God’s ways are perfect and He knows when to share His Goodness and when to meet out earned Severity.

So why does it appear that God withholds the goodness of healing to so many?

I know that there are many faithful who pray in faith – believing God for healing, yet do not experience the Goodness of healing. Why?

As I continue to meditate on this question – I found myself studying: “If you have faith as the grain of mustard seed…you will speak…and the mountain will be removed…” (Matthew 17:20)

I contemplated the fact that so many individual ‘mountains’ failed to move during our present time of crisis.

Yet I know God is good. Therefore, I would propose that there is something that we are missing.

So I continued to study this scripture in its’ context. (Matthew 17:14 – 20)

Is it possible that context is the missing ‘key’ to God’s Kingdom promises?

The context:

Jesus and His 3 chosen disciples had just come down from the Mount of Transfiguration – the 3 chosen disciples were able to see Him in His Glory. As they descended a desperate father knelt down before Jesus and asked Him to “HEAL” his son.

Jesus was disappointed to say the least in the other disciples’ inability to “HEAL”.

Jesus told them to bring the boy here.

In this particular healing, Jesus did not lay hands on the boy, Jesus did not put ‘clay on the boy’ nor did He speak to the boy – Jesus spoke to the demon, the spirit and told it to come out.

And the demon came out – and the boy was “HEALED”.

Once the crowd dispersed the disciples asked Jesus, why weren’t we able to cast it out – Jesus told them if they had “faith as a grain of mustard seed they could speak to the mountain and it will be cast into the sea.”

Jesus told them if they had even a little faith, (i.e., 1/7000th of a grain of mustard seed of faith) that they could speak to the mountain/demon/spirit and it would be removed and that nothing would be impossible to them.

Healing came by speaking, commanding the demon/spirit to come out. As Christians we are well aware that we are not battling against flesh and blood. (Ephesians 6:10 – 20)

Oh I know that what Jesus said is applicable to many areas of life – not just in casting out evil spirits. But I just wondered why it never dawned on me, that Jesus was speaking to the spirit of infirmity/demon and commanding it to come out and in the context of “speaking to the mountain” – He was casting out the source of the boys infirmity/sickness.

Why do most churches ignore this ‘answer’ to prayer?

Are we afraid of address something that was very common place in Jesus days and is still relevant to us today?

Have we lost our keys?
